Overview

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Teen Club Manager at the YMCA of Northern Utah maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families. The position is responsible for day-to-day management of teen club programing to include curriculum development, partnership and sponsorship development, activity recruitment, and empowering staff to provide a safe, engaging teen club program for the duration of the school year.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the supervision of the Regional Director to develop teen club schedule, weekly schedules, activities, and records for all areas of program and facilities.
  • Delivers meaningful training and onboarding to ensure new teen club staff are prepared and set up for success.
  • Supervises, develops, and evaluates teen club staff. Give appropriate feedback to improve skill sets and capabilities.
  • Ensures lesson plans are prepared and implemented to meet outcomes and the abilities of the students.
  • Nurtures youth through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y’s values.
  • Prepares and disseminates the ongoing family newsletter, advising participants on schedules, announcements, and general program expectations.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of multiple themed clubs to ensure a specialized club is offered daily.
  • Networks to develop partners who can support the teen club activities through volunteering their time and expertise, or financial sponsorship.
  • Prepares and supports the delivery of progressive program activities including but not limited to daily activities, community service projects, and family events.
  • Coordinates all programs and activities with other staff and presenters
  • Evaluates the quality of the program after each session, focusing on staff performance and the development of the student’s abilities, skills, and enjoyment of all program activities.
  • Implements, plans and coordinates student recognition program and develops additional recognition program s as needed.
  • Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem -solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff
    training.
  • Communicates issues and problem s as they arise to the Youth Development Director.
  • Problem solves with support staff to resolve all issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Models' relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, youth parents, and other community stakeholders.
  • Assists in the management and care of the physical facilities and all program equipment.
  • Oversees program budget, supply purchasing, and other associated purchasing.
  • Attains weekly inventory checks on all program equipment, ensuring all equipment is fit for use and prepared for the following session. Advises supervisor of any equipment/supplies that need to be replaced or purchased.
  • Oversees and ensures the safety of all program participants through minor decision making regarding routine problems and follows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g., safety or emergency procedures, behavior guidance strategies, child abuse prevention policies); makes ADA accommodations where appropriate.
  • Maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records.
  • Ensures that staff always know and follow the safety and educational procedures of teen club programming.
  • Prepares and supports the delivery of progressive program activities including but not limited to daily activities, community service projects and family engagement events.

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree in child development, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
  • One or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Two or more years’ experience working with children in a professional setting and in teen club program development.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds, with experience working with diverse populations.
  • Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Must qualify and be able to drive a YMCA company vehicle to transport students.

Posted Salary Range

USD $18.05 - USD $22.57 /Hr.
